More visitors and a positive atmosphere at Musikmesse 2010


The year’s Musikmesse closed its doors after welcoming more visitors and emphasising its position as the leading international trade fair for the musical-instrument sector. Despite the difficult economic climate, more than 79,000 visitors came to Frankfurt to find out about the latest products and to enjoy the numerous concerts and events on the stages and exhibition stands.

‘Piano Player of the Year’ awarded to Agnes Krumwiede

At this year’s Musikmesse, Europe’s piano manufacturers made presentations in the Piano Salon Europe (Forum 1). This was also the venue for the presentation of the ‘Piano Player of the Year’ award, which this year went to pianist and ‘Green Party’ Member of Parliament Agnes Krumwiede. In her speech, the award winner made an emotional appeal for culture with no economic ulterior motives.

Frankfurt Music Prize awarded to Keith Emerson

The Frankfurt Music Prize was presented to Keith Emerson, keyboarder, pianist, composer and founding member of ‘Emerson, Lake & Palmer’ on the eve of Musikmesse 2010.
Worth € 15,000, the Frankfurt Music Prize is sponsored by the Federal Association of German Musical Instrument Manufacturers (Bundesverband der Deutschen Musikinstrumenten-Hersteller e.V.) and Messe Frankfurt.

SchoolJam Finale at Musikmesse 2010

On Friday, 26 March, eight bands played for the title of ‘Germany’s Best School Band’. The winner was ‘The Mustard Tubes’ from Traunstein in Bavaria. During the break while the jury met to make their decision, ‘Luxuslärm’ set the whole marquee rocking.

“Video killed the Radio Star”… Musikmesse Youtube Channel

This year, we launched a Musikmesse Channel in Youtube where you will find a host of videos including clips from the Musikmesse Press Team and our cooperation partner. Video reporting is growing in importance for Musikmesse. The spectrum on offer is huge and, with our channel, we aim to provide an overview of what is available. On the Musikmesse Channel, you will more than one hundred videos from selected portals covering the latest products from the fair and other topics.

MIPA Award

On Thursday, 25 March, journalists from over 100 magazines for the musical-instrument and pro-audio sectors gave the Musikmesse International Press Award (MIPA) for products in over 40 categories. The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of Lifetime Achievement Award to Hartley Peavey.

NP Drums – Drums and Percussion from Spain

The Nova Percusió S.L. company from Valencia in Spain is one of the Spanish pioneers of percussion instrument manufacture. Managing Director, Juan Jose "Pepe" González Alcacer, has been a figure in the market place for more than 25 years. He originally founded the marketing company Gonalca S.L., and has now been manufacturing his own brand, NP Drums, for more than 20 years. For the last 17 years he has been a regular exhibitor with his own stand at Musikmesse.

Musikmesse presents Premier Guitar Special Edition

The Musikmesse presents a special edition of America’s Premier Guitar magazine. Read all about guitars, amplifiers and accessories. Premier Guitar introduces the latest products from Musikmesse 2010 and publishes the first test reports.

During the Musikmesse, all leading manufacturers in the guitars and basses sector exhibited their products in Halls 4.0, 4.1 and 3.0. The huge range of products at the fair is rounded off by a host of stars who demonstrate the instruments live. On the Public Day in particular, Halls are always full to overflowing with major and minor stars who present the instruments in action or give autographs. Obtain an initial overview of the range of guitars to be seen at Musikmesse 2010.
