Warwick / Framus – Interview with H.P. Wilfer
Neither Warwick´s policy of continuous product development, nor the investment in new machinery and technology which it entails, detracts from the spirit of hand craftsmanship. Correct selection and working of woods remain vital factors in determining the sound. For years professional musicians trust in instruments made by Warwick and love the "Sound made in Markneukirchen/Saxony". Before the Musikmesse 2010, we interviewed the founding owner and CEO of Warwick and Framus, H.P. Wilfer.

"The Musical Instrument Making Experience" - Musicon Valley in the Vogtland region
At work in the towns of Markneukirchen, Erlbach, Klingenthal and in the Vogtland region of Saxony – almost in the Czech Republic, almost in Bavaria – are instrument makers with world reputations. Up until the Second World War, this region, together with Schönbach and Graslitz just over in Bohemia, was the centre of instrument making, and has gone down in the pages of history as the "Musikwinkel" (literally "music corner"), a notion first coined by local poet Max Schmerler, from Zwota.

Musikmesse beefs up sound reduction measures
Music? Yes – Noise? No thank you. In 2010, the Musikmesse is intensifying efforts to keep sound levels in the halls at the fair within tolerable limits. Additional checks will also be carried out on visitors at the gate. Visitors are not allowed to bring instruments into the Musikmesse. This has always been the case but at the 2010 Musikmesse drumsticks will also be treated as instruments for the first time and must be handed in on admission.

Bands were invited to apply via the regioacitve.de website. 620 applications were received and the editorial staff has now selected 16 bands and artists for the sampler.
